Hotel Palazzo Stern and Grand Canal

The Hotel Palazzo Stern is a four-star boutique hotel that has only 24 rooms (all with free Wi-Fi). The hotel occupies a beautifully-restored Venetian Gothic palace on the Grand Canal, with a waterside breakfast terrace and a year-round hot tub on the roof patio.

The Palazzo Stern is the perfect hotel for a honeymoon, an anniversary trip, or a romantic weekend. It's also convenient for disabled guests, with specially-equipped rooms and a wheelchair lift for the low step at the hotel entrance.

How to reach the Palazzo Stern from the Ca' Rezzonico airport-boat stop (Alilaguna Linea Arancio):

Palazzo Stern map directions

  1. As you leave the Ca' Rezzonico boat platform, turn left. The Palazzo Stern will be just ahead of you, with its entrance facing the street.

From the San Basilio cruise terminal:

The walk from San Basilio to the Palazzo Stern looks long on the map, but it's mostly over level pavement with only two small bridges:

  1. Leave the San Basilio cruise terminal by the main doors and walk straight ahead to the wooden bridge.

  2. Cross the bridge and walk a short distance to the San Basilio vaporetto (water bus) stop.

  3. Just across from the vaporetto stop, you'll see a narrow pedestrian street with a restaurant to the left of the Billa supermarket. Go down the street, which is named the Calle del Vento.

  4. In about half a minute, you'll reach a small square with a bridge (the Campo San Basegio). Do not cross the bridge--instead, continue inland along the canal until you reach the Calle dell'Avogaria, which goes off to the right from another bridge.

  5. Turn right on the Calle dell'Avogaria and cross the next bridge into the Calle Lunga San Barnaba.

  6. Continue walking until you reach the Campo San Barnaba.

  7. At the Campo San Barnaba, stay on the right side of the square. Walk straight ahead into the Calle del Traghetto, which is on the right side of the church.

  8. The Palazzo Stern's entrance will be at the end of the street, just before you reach the Grand Canal.
