Hotel Filù photo

The Leone Hotel (formerly the Hotel Filù) is one of Venice's newer boutique hotels. It's located in an historic three-story building overlooking the Cannaregio Canal, not far from the Guglie Bridge and the main walking route between Santa Lucia Railroad Station and the Piazza San Marco.

All of the hotel's guestrooms are doubles, twins, or triples, and superior rooms have canal views. Rooms feature a modern, unfussy decor.

One nice touch: Breakfast is served from 8 to 10 a.m. (with gluten-free products available), but if you need to depart early, the hotel will supply a take-away breakfast on request.

Tip: Free cots are available for children of ages 3 and under in all rooms, and in standard or superior rooms, you can request a bed for a child from 4 to 12 at an additional charge. (We recommend indicating your need for a cot or extra bed in the "Special Requests" section of the booking form.)

How to reach the Leone Hotel from the airport boat's Guglie waterbus stop (Alilaguna Linea Arancio):

Leone Hotel Map, Venice.

The Leone Hotel is just a few meters from the Guglie stop of the Alilaguna Orange Line airport boat, which is also used by ACTV public water buses. Here's how to reach the hotel:

  1. As you leave the Guglie boat pier, turn right and walk toward a green drugstore sign with a cross.

  2. Go past the drugstore to the Leone Hotel (the yellow building in the photo above).

From Santa Lucia Railroad Station:

ABOVE: This map shows the route from Venezia Santa Lucia Railroad Station to the Ponte delle Guglie on the Cannaregio Canal. Walking time is 5 to 10 minutes over level ground.

  1. Leave the railroad station by the marble steps outside the main doors, or by the easy-to-miss (and conveniently stair-free) side exit if you have rolling luggage, a stroller, or a wheelchair.

  2. When you reach the wide fondamenta or pavement in front of the station, turn left.

  3. Walk past the Scalzi Church and the Scalzi Bridge toward the Lista di Spagna (a busy pedestrian thoroughfare).

  4. Continue down the Lista di Spagna, through the Campo San Geremia (you'll see a large domed church on your right), and on to the Ponte delle Guglie Bridge.

  5. Cross the bridge, turn left, and walk toward the pharmacy sign with a green cross.

  6.   The Leone Hotel's entrance is right before the pharmacy.
