The Hotel Canaletto is a three-star, 38-room hotel between the Piazza San Marco and the Campo Santa Maria Formosa, in a house where the Venetian painter Canaletto once lived. It's convenient to shopping and within easy walking distance of the Rialto Bridge.

Some rooms have canal views, and all include free Wi-Fi. You can even bring your pet at no extra charge.

How to reach the Hotel Canaletto from the Alilaguna airport-boat pier at San Marco Giardinetti:

Hotel Canaletto map directions

  1. As you leave the Alilaguna airport-boat pier, turn right and walk along the waterfront.

  2. When you reach the Piazzetta (the large open area in front of the Doge's Palace), turn left and walk into the Piazza San Marco.

  3. Bear right as you pass the Basilica di San Marco and look for a street named Calle de La Rizza on the north side of the square, past the stone lions.

  4. Turn into the Calle de la Rizza, walk to the corner, and continue straight ahead into the Calle Specchieri.

  5. Follow the Calle Specchieri several blocks, past the San Zulian Church. Keep going until you hit a T-crossing with a large hardware store where you have to turn left or right.

  6. Turn right into the Piscina S. Zulian. Continue straight ahead, across a low bridge and past the Acqua Palace Hotel.

  7. Keep walking on the Calle Larga Malvasia. The Hotel Canaletto is at number 5487.

From the Marittima cruise terminals:

  1. Take the Alilaguna Blue Line airport boat from the cruise basin to the waterbus stop at San Marco Giardinetti.

  2. Follow the directions above.
