Hotel Al Sole - view from roomThe Hotel Al Sole is a 15th Century palazzo that overlooks a canal. Air conditioning and other modern conveniences haven't taken away from the family-owned hotel's authentic Venetian atmosphere.

How to reach Hotel Al Sole from Piazzale Roma:

  1. On the tree-lined side of the Piazzale Roma, look for the central path that leads toward the water.
  1. A canal is just beyond the trees. Continue straight ahead over the stone footbridge.

  2. Follow the curving path through the greenery on the other side of the bridge and continue just past the Hotel Papadopoli Venezia to a small bridge over the Tolentini Canal.

  3. Cross the bridge and turn right onto the Fondamenta Tolentini. Walk to the next corner.

  4.  At the corner, turn left onto the Fondamenta Minotto.

  5. The Hotel Al Sole is a short distance along the fondamenta. (Look for a palazzo with the flag of the Venetian Republic and a bridge in front.)

From the Marittima cruise terminals:

  1. Take a free shuttle bus (if available), a taxi, or the People Mover just outside the port gates to the Piazzale Roma.

  2. Follow the directions above.

From the Santa Lucia railroad station:

  1. As you leave the station, turn right and walk toward the modern Calatrava Bridge (a.k.a. the Ponte della Costituzione).

  2. Cross the bridge to the Piazzale Roma.

  3. Bear left and follow the directions above.
